OWNER'S DESCRIPTION: "Seagull Beach House" Kids Beachfront Get-A-Way. Ideal kids and grandparents cottage, just walk over the flat grass yard onto level shoreline with sand and some beach grasses then out to the water's edge. Or take the kids along the shore just 300 ft to the awesome public sand beach park with facilities and lots of other kids if water levels fluctuate due to heavy rains like the summer of 2009 which can overflow and reduce the beach in the bay directly out front.

Enjoy the quaintness of a "seaside" hamlet setting with colourful sailboats gently bobbing while moored in the bay. Awesome Lake Huron waterfront sunrises/sunsets and sandy beachfront awaits at this fabulous 1400 square foot, 2 level "Traditional/Authentic" beach house, featuring original 79 year old romantic stone fireplace that will mesmerize you in the evenings, wooden walls, floors, ceilings, and sprawling screened porch facing the lake, reminiscent of "On Golden Pond". Everyone says they eat in the porch, not the diningroom to be in-touch with the lake view!

You must appreciate the warm cozy feel of vintage decor to truly enjoy relaxed, casual vacationing here! The massive living room/dining room faces fireplace and views of sheltered inlet and islands. Retire "upstairs" after a "blazing red sunset" to 3 bright, spacious bedrooms, all with windows...one with rocking horse, rocking chair & decor that is perfect for making kids memories. L-shaped master bedroom also has twin bed for small kiddies.

Sandy, shallow entry water edge ideal for children, but small inflow creek with lots of frogs and tadpoles is also very exciting. Waterfront Nature Reserve just 1/2 mile away for more adventure. Gov't dock a short walk for kids fishing and daily adventure as fishing boats arrive around 2 pm with their catch..buy one cleaned and exceptionally fresh and put it right on the BBQ! Great canoeing around islands in bay and along varied, endless shoreline without ever encountering waves! Maybe you're a late- nighter, so take in the stunning display of stars, only visible because no city lights exist. Very likely the "Milky Way" will emerge! All this while toasting marshmallows over the shore side bonfire pit.

We are a family of 4, with 2 children under the age of 3. We chose the Seagull Beach House because we liked the idea of a lakefront cottage with a shallow entry. We could just plop ourselves down and let the little ones play in the wonderful sand and warm shallow water without constantly worrying. It seems they could go forever without hitting deep water. Since I was staying with the little ones and my aging mother for one of the weeks, it was pleasant to have the small and quiet harbour community close so it didn't feel too isolated.

The cottage was very cozy-Thank goodness for the wonderful (and very efficient fireplace!) We liked the rustic feel of the cabin...it was very comfortable...we really felt like we could kick back and relax. (I've always said if I wanted a house-I'd stay in the city). I would recommend this cottage to anyone who would like to actually get out of the city and experience real cottage living. You can be close to lots of peaceful natural attractions (Tobermory, Cabot Lighthouse, Lion's Head) as well as kicking it up at Sauble Beach!

I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful host Paul, who was kind enough to check-in with us to make sure we were warm enough. He also came to our rescue when we had bought a dockside fish we didn't know what to do with! Thanks again Paul! We hope to see you next year!
