The cottage was built in 1989. It is set on 8 acres of land, affording great privacy. The cottage is located above the lake. There are stairs (81 steps) to the lake. Clear Lake is a small (2 kilometres long) lake with green clear, clean water. The lake is spring fed so has no run off from other lakes. The color of the lake is similar to Canada's famous Lake Louise in Alberta.

The lake front has 2 large wooden decks, a dock and a floating raft. The shoreline is smooth rocks and is a bit steep. There is no public boat launch. Arrangements may be made with one of our neighbours across the lake to launch a small boat.

The cottage size is approximately 1,700 square feet (158 square metres) with 4 spacious bedrooms upstairs. There is a full bathroom upstairs complete with shower and bathtub. There is also a powder room on the main floor. The main floor is open concept, using post and beam construction and includes the kitchen, dining room and living room. There are large windows throughout the cottage to maximize the natural light and for great views of the lake.

The living room, the large bedroom upstairs and another bedroom upstairs, which all have lots of windows, face south so the cottage is very bright. The kitchen has a built in dishwasher. There is a 14 inch colour TV, no VCR player and no DVD player. There is no cable or satellite TV. There are no channels that can be received through the airwaves.There is a deck on 3 sides of the cottage. The large open deck faces south.

There is a large (290 square feet, 26 square metres) screened-in porch with a picnic table. This porch is ideal for eating and for relaxing with great views of the lake and surrounding forests. There is a charcoal (not propane) BBQ.

The nearest town, Minden, 15 kilometres from the cottage, is the main shopping area. Algonquin Provincial Park is about 80 kilometres north of the cottage.
