I built this four season cottage as a foil to the city --- but with every modern city convenience. It is located on Kawartha Hideaway Island where I have more than 200 feet of frontage on Upper Buckhorn Lake. In the heart of the Kawarthas, it is an easy two hour drive from Toronto. The island community the cottage is part of is connected to the mainland by a causeway so you can drive right to the door. The advantage to this is, of course, privacy. There are no through roads and virtually no traffic. In fact, the road dead ends just beyond the cottage. So, whether you come to enjoy boating and water sports, wintertime cross-country skiing; or just want a romantic getaway, you will find the quality of life there truly is a foil to that of the city.
