This beautiful cottage is located on Walnut Island on Sand Lake on the Rideau Canal. Sand Lake is an excellent lake for fishing and recreation. Located on a private cove with beautiful sunsets, this property boasts safe and secluded swimming and water sports with little to no boat traffic. There s great swimming from the dock at the water s edge where the shade of a cedar grove keeps parents in the shade as the kids swim. There s also a gradual swimming entry to the left of the dock, and great water-skiing right off the dock in the quiet calm-water section of the lake.

Cottage has big wrap-around deck with beautiful views both day and night. A shaded picnic area can be enjoyed for lunch/dinner with the family while watching the kids play. Wall of windows allows star gazing from the comfort of the couch. There are great hiking trails along the spine of the island.

Jones Falls Locks can be visited by boat where there are historical sites, restaurants, a gift shop, a working blacksmith's shop, and swimming to be explored. The Rideau Canal is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and was rated #2 as an exceptional historic site destination by National Geographic.

The Rideau Lakes Region is a great place to explore. You can take advantage of the great fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, or lock through the historic canal system to the other attached lakes and towns. In the surrounding towns and cities there are also lots of activities, and events to participate in including, golf, historic tours, boat tours, shopping restaurants, area events, and lots more!
